Balance Bikes are also known as runner bikes, training bikes or walker bikes. There are no pedals, making them very easy to ride and particularly good for toddlers, who might find a standard pedal bike too tricky but still want to 'ride' a bike. They can be happily used by children up to 5 or 6 years old.
Childdren don't tend to 'learn' how to ride a balance bike, they seem to know instinctively what to do - sit and push with their feet, meaning a balance bike can be enjoyed instantly. The bikes are powered by the rider's feet pushing off the floor, half running, half sitting, speeding the bike along.
Promotes and improves movement and balance leading to cycling skills. In a few years, when they are ready for a pedal bike, their balance bike experience will really help them take to it without any problem at all. They aren't called training bikes for nothing!

Wishbone bike has a sponge seat which did not look like it would stand up to 'little fingers' picking at it, so bought one of these.
