I have tried most nipple shields on the market and these are by far the best. Due to their width they mean that the baby has to latch on properly to feed and because the surround is curved, it still allows for skin to skin contact and baby can smell mum. With the Avent and Boots nipple guards, the guard was teat shaped and so my son didn't latch on properly and just nipple sucked, so he couldn't get to the milk properly.
Medela guards were the ones recommended by the lactation consultant at the hospital, and once you've tried them, it's obvious why.
